Hey RepairShoprs — Happy Friday!

Today we’re sharing an important tip that can help you spiff up your invoices and make them more legible for your team & customers.

We hear quite often that people want their line items to look good and be readable for their clients, and they wonder how to achieve this in RepairShopr.

If you head to the admin page and ‘Ticket Preferences’ -> ‘Additional Settings’, you’ll find two fields: Customized Text for Ticket Timer Charges and Customized Text for Ticket Charges. Using these fields, you can customize your line item text and make the information more readable and useful.

Check out our latest video for a helpful mini-tutorial on how to do this:

For additional info, refer to our Knowledge Base article: https://feedback.repairshopr.com/knowledgebase/articles/1851781-tickets#Ticket_Settings

We’ve gotten feedback from users who have been spending a lot of time reviewing the tickets from their staff, as they’d occasionally find tickets with uncharged time on them.

We’ve now added a new Admin Settings toggle to help with this. When enabled, any time a ticket is marked as resolved, your technicians will see a warning asking them if they’d first like to charge the remaining uncharged time on the ticket before proceeding. This should significantly reduce lost revenue due to paperwork errors like these ones.

To learn more about Ticket Charges within RepairShopr, visit our Ticket Settings Knowledge Base Article.

We hope this update helps save you time in your day-to-day workflow, and look forward to bringing you more updates soon!

For businesses in the U.S., the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) launches today.

This program – a part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act – promises $350 Billion to small businesses affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic. An application form is already live on the U.S. Treasury website.

Eligible businesses can apply for loans of up to $10 Million. If small businesses maintain payroll through the crisis, some of the money borrowed through the newly created Paycheck Protection Program can be forgiven. The goal is to help small businesses and owners maintain themselves through the current climate of economic uncertainty and turmoil.

Many banks have reported delays in launching their application process but some are already up and running.

Here is a fact sheet published by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce: https://www.uschamber.com/sites/default/files/023595_comm_corona_virus_smallbiz_loan_final.pdf

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was passed and signed into law last week, provides massive new programs and initiatives to assist U.S. businesses impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

What does this mean for your repair business?

Depending on your circumstance and the characteristics of your business, you may be eligible to access economic relief from the new legislation.

Here are some helpful links to more comprehensive guides that can help you fully understand the programs and initiatives, and help you determine your eligibility:

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Guide to CARES Act: (this source is being updated regularly to reflect new developments):
https://www.uschamber.com/co/start/strategy/cares-act-small-business-guide

U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship Guide to CARES Act:
https://www.sbc.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/guide-to-the-cares-act

Here is a quick overview of the new programs & initiatives outlined in the legislation:

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loans
Cash-flow assistance through 100 percent federally guaranteed loans to employers who maintain their payroll during this emergency. If employers maintain their payroll, the loans would be forgiven, which would help workers remain employed, as well as help affected small businesses and our economy snap-back quicker after the crisis.

Small Business Debt Relief Program
This program will provide immediate relief to small businesses with non-disaster SBA loans, in particular 7(a), 504, and microloans. Under it, SBA will cover all loan payments on these SBA loans, including principal, interest, and fees, for six months.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans & Emergency Economic Injury Grants
These grants provide an emergency advance of up to $10,000 to small businesses and private non-profits harmed by COVID-19 within three days of applying for an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL).

Small Business Tax Provisions
This provision would provide a refundable payroll tax credit for 50 percent of wages paid by eligible employers to certain employees during the COVID-19 crisis.

Counseling & Training
If you, like many small business owners, need a business counselor to help guide you through this uncertain time, you can turn to your local Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Women’s Business Center (WBC), or SCORE mentorship chapter. These resource partners, and the associations that represent them, will receive additional funds to expand their reach and better support small business owners with counseling and up-to-date information regarding COVID-19.

Hey RepairShoprs – Happy Feature Friday!

We’ve got some great new updates for you for Tickets, Mailboxes, and more. Read on to see what’s new.

Ticket Splitting

We’ve got a great new feature for you called Ticket Splitting that will help you keep your lines of communication more organized with your customers.

Here is a common scenario: you have a particular ticket with a customer and a week goes by. This customer then comes back with a separate issue or a question that is unrelated to the initial ticket but they still hit the reply button. You now have to try to untangle the two separate questions even though they are all part of one single ticket. Now, you can split it!

You can now simply go to the little contextual button in a ticket’s comment section and select ‘Split to New Ticket’. This will create an entirely new ticket. You can give this new ticket a new subject, a new status and you’ll also be able to see where this new Split Ticket originated from.

A quick run-down of this feature appears in our Knowledge Base article here.

Subject for Ticket Comment Emails

We’ve changed the default email subjects to use the ticket subject instead of a generated subject with the account name.

So if you have a ticket with a Subject: “Need help with a computer”, it would go:

from “AccountName – Comment made to Ticket #1234 (message id: 123123)”

to “Need help with a computer (message id: 123123)”

This is going to feel much more natural from the email standpoint. We know some will have some rules and automation setup around the old names so we’ve taken a step to help mitigate that for you.

In Settings → Ticket Preferences → Advanced you can find a setting to control the subject. This now also supports Template Tags so you have the ability to make the subject look like it did before, or customize to your heart’s content! You’ll have all the comment tags available, which include ticket tags and customer tags.

Mailboxes

We’ve introduced two more options for additional control over your Mailboxes. Go to Admin → Tickets → Mailboxes (inbound email) and choose a Mailbox to edit.

You’ll see two new preferences you can control for a Mailbox:

Set Issue Type to

Set Ticket Status to

These will allow any inbound traffic created via this particular Mailbox to automatically have a specific Type and even have a specific Status. You can also Assign Tickets from a particular Mailbox to a particular technician.

With these new parameters, you can more quickly define and automate your inbound traffic so it is more organized and it’s quicker for you to get to the work that needs to be done.

Learn more about Mailboxes and these changes in our Knowledge Base article here.

Portal Security Change

We’ve also implemented an important change to Portal security. In the past, if you sent someone a Portal Invitation we would block their portal access by default even if they had not setup or claimed that portal user.

Now, going forward the default is that we will allow those in until they claim the Portal User (by setting up the password). If you want this to behave the old way you can go to Settings → Customer Settings → Advanced and turn on the option to block the portal even for unclaimed invitations.

Check out our Feature Friday video below to see how all these changes work in detail

Hey RepairShoprs – Happy Feature Friday!

This Feature Friday is a bit of a follow up to last week’s Worksheets update.

The big new feature we’re sharing this week is Ad Hoc Worksheets, which are customizable Worksheets that can be created on the fly within a Ticket Details page.

Additionally, in this update, Customer portal tickets now show public Worksheets and you can now choose to require that a Worksheet be completed by your customer.

Ad Hoc Worksheets are great for a particular repair or installation that may be unique and which require a special checklist or workflow. Additionally you can use Ad Hoc Worksheets for managing a long term project or just building customizable Ticket Worksheets quickly.

To create an Ad Hoc Worksheet, go to the Worksheets section on a Ticket, click ‘New’ and select the ‘Ad Hoc Worksheet’ template from the template dropdown menu. Create a title for your Worksheet and click the orange checkmark button.

Once it is created, there are four different selections you can choose for building out your Worksheet: Text, Dropdown, Checkbox, and Section.

Use the four selections in whatever order or configuration you want! We’ve also implemented some nifty keyboard functionality so you can build your Worksheet even faster. If you decide you don’t want to include a certain part of the Worksheet, just use the little trash can icon to delete. Parts of your Worksheet can also be rearranged so you can easily organize them for your intended workflow.

A quick run-down of this feature appears in our Knowledge Base article here. Check out our video below to see an in-depth walkthrough on how to use Ad Hoc Worksheets:
